It's up to us

If we market Library 2.0 we need to take responsibility for explaining and teaching it to our patrons. Often we don't feel that our patrons are ready for most of the Web 2.0 applications. If our government had a different set of priorities, we would be spending less on national defense and we could provide free high speed internet nation-wide. Eventually our populace would have exposure to the internet and all of its possibilities.

That seems to tbe part often left out of the whole 2.0 cult. They often make it sounds as if the patrons are just clamoring for the stuff when they are not. And in many cases, they do not even know what the tools and things are. So yes, we could be doing more to educate patrons on what the applications can do and how they can be useful. There is such a long way to go when it comes to getting access for all, and yet it is becoming such a necessity for people to be able to get online.

Best, and keep on blogging.
